ABOUT US

I have had cats all my life, since as a small child.   I was so enamored with the Bengal breed that we adopted  2 pet Bengals, Rudy and Maya,  a few years ago and then decided to breed this magnificent animal.  They are very intelligent, affectionate and active......they never cease to amaze us with their antics. Our pet Bengals, Maya and India are super affectionate members of our household and we love them dearly. Maya is our mischievous girl; Maya loves 'our suppertime' and likes to follow me around the house.  India is our sweet little mischief maker and cuddle bug!  She loves to make some very Bengal noises! We also have our Siamese cross girl, Chynna, who is actually top of the seniority list and she has managed to be the one in charge!  She does put up with a lot from the Bengal members of the family!   We have added a Red Abyssinian to our family, Foxy, and she is a fox, alright! She is also very sweet :-).  Little Levi, Matti's son (who lost the end of his tail at birth),  is our resident 'boy" pet and he is "supposed" to be in charge at some time in the future :-). Syriana and Matahari, our 2 retired breeders have also recently joined our feline family....lots of fun and companionship and of course, never a dull moment!

Our cattery is a small, home based cattery, with our breeding cats and kittens being with us as much as possible. It takes quite a lot of extra work to manage this feat, but we feel it is well worth it. We do not keep our cats or kittens in small cages or enclosed pens that are far from our living space, as we feel this limits the cats and kittens in many important ways of physical, mental and social stimulation. We also want our cats to feel as if they are part of our family.

There are 2 rooms for our girls and kittens, with 1 being quite large; this large room is divided into 3 areas with bright lighting (a southern/west exposure window).  This is my "office" and has been designated a nursery and maternity ward. The other room is a good size, being divided into two sections; this room has southern exposure as well and is brightly lit. I have a TV in this room, which I leave on during the day. The Outdoor channel or my Cat videos ( birds and squirrels etc) are the most popular!  We have an outdoor enclosure that is 7x10 ft; the enclosure gets sun but is also roofed and protected from the sun and rain if need be. We are also working on another one for the boys. Our cats love being outside in these quarters, playing or napping ! Our female breeder cats sleep in their areas at night, then mingle with us during the day. This arrangement enables us to socialize  with our cats and kittens on an "everyday basis", allowing them to be participants in our household activities. We feel it is also a necessary component of breeding to have well socialized and happy Bengal cats and kittens. We make an extra effort to spend time with them in their living area.  The kittens are well socialized and are raised under foot, as our grandchildren spend time with them also (see pics in "Gallery").  They have lots of toys, a cat tree or two to play with and in.

Our boys area is a large area with 12 foot high vaulted ceilings and a window which opens (with heavy metal screening) with a view to the walnut tree and various birds. We also have an outdoor enclosure planned for the boys this coming spring,  in which they  will be able to access from their living area. We provide various "enrichment" objects and toys for all our cats and kittens.

We are situated in the sunny Okanagan Valley, which is located at the northern tip of the Sonora Desert, and boasts a hot, arid climate in the summer with minimal precipitation for the rest of the year. Not a bad place for a Bengal to hang out in! Feel free to drop in for a visit and see our cats and kittens.
